I hope you find the advice and tips in this post helpful in your marketing journey!
Define Your Objectives
(Contribution 1 of 5)

TEXT: It’s 2024, and your various audiences are on various platforms. So regardless of your objective, there is no such thing as picking one platform to be your sole video content distributor.
Furthermore, do not just upload a video to YouTube, and then post the link to it on your social media accounts. You should upload the video to each platform using the platform’s own native video tools (ex. Reels on IG, Facebook’s native video uploader, etc.)
In my opinion, use at least YouTube, Facebook and Instagram, regardless of your business. And pick 1-3 more platforms based on your audience’s age and/or special interests, and have a work flow that enables you to create all versions of the video that you will need for each platform quickly.
Know Your Audience
(Contribution 2 of 5)

TEXT: Use Google Trends and new AI tools to identify what your audiences are searching for online, and what apps they are using.
Regardless of your audience though, you should at least use YouTube, Facebook and Instagram. Then pick 1-3 more platforms based on your audience’s age and/or special interests (TikTok obviously a must for younger generations), and have a work flow that enables you to create all versions of the video that you will need for each platform quickly.
Compare The Features
(Contribution 3 of 5)

TEXT: Don’t get too bogged down on the different features, but YouTube is an absolute must. It is connected to Google’s search engine – massively optimizing your SEO. And YouTube has both long videos, and ‘Shorts’ (short form video), both of which can be easily embedded pretty much anywhere.
But YouTube is not the end all be all. You should be uploading your video to each social media platform using their own native video tools (not just posting the YouTube link) to ensure that you maximize your reach.
Consider The Costs
(Contribution 4 of 5)

TEXT: The biggest cost is TIME Once you have identified the platforms that you want to connect with your audiences on, you will need to create a best-practice workflow that enables you to export one video into the various versions you’ll need for each platform (Ex. Portrait for IG, landscape for YouTube, along with the different thumbnails for each).
The workflow also must include the use of each platform’s native tools (Ex. Placing text & voiceover on your TikTok video, inputting the appropriate thumbnail for each platform, closed captions, etc.) Having a premiere workflow is what is going to save money and enable you to produce more content faster.
The other main cost is ad spend but that is a much more complex topic, and not necessary.
Here's What Else To Consider
(Contribution 5 of 5)

TEXT: Test out new AI tools that can help speed up your workflow. Spend the grueling time it takes to familiarize yourself with these tools, and once you do, you will be like a superhero. You will be able to create multiple versions of your video (for each platform you choose) super fast, plus the thumbnails, closed captions, and any other components.
Especially take advantage of image and video generators. Based on your prompts, they will generate visuals for you to use as references/examples to help give you ideas of what imagery and clips you could create and put into your video.
